New year, new look!

This blog has had a makeover!! Whoohoo! 🙂

I created a portfolio page last week, something some of you have seen already. Go check it out!
This week I shot my new background! It’s something that has been in my head for a while, I’ve been wanting to change this website for some time. I think it looks a whole lot better this way, more professional, and it really shows what I’m about: colours.

If you want to know how I did it: I shot my brushes with paint and makeup on them against a white background. I tried shooting with a lot of light coming in. I still don’t really know what I’m doing, though it looks like what I had in mind. Then I went over it with photoshop and the option that I used a lot, is exposure.

As for the content of my portfolio, you can see there that I’ve been asked for a photoshoot! It’s so wonderful, I feel like I’m in a rollercoaster now. After the photoshoot, I had the chance to grime for a theater production this weekend. It’s so brilliant.
I’m going to see and find photos of the show to put in my portfolio. The show is called “Witches”, based on the book by Roald Dahl. It was really great, I hope I will get more opportunities like this.

I hope all of you had happy holidays, I’m going to spend this week finishing my internship report, after that there’s a fantastic New Year’s party coming up. Next year is going to rock!

Love,

M.

100 Followers GIVE-AWAY! – CLOSED

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!!

Today we are going to celebrate the fact that I now have a 100 followers on this blog!!!!

I’m so grateful, as I told you many times, for all the people who continue to support my work and appreciate the art of Makeup. I love every single one of you.

To show my thanks, I will be giving away a product that I got for you at IMATS London last June. I knew this day would come, so I bought a lovely palette for you:

This is the NYX Cosmetics Glitter Cream palette, which has a lot of different colours. I tried to find this product online, but all I saw where smaller versions that are no longer available on the NYX website, so, I figured this would be special!

I have opened the palette, only to show it on camera, I have not swatched these because that would be unhygienic. I swatched one or two colours at IMATS though, and I can tell you this: the top layer of the product does not contain a lot of the ‘cream’, it’s mainly just loose glitter. The reviews I found say that you should rub a little harder/deeper to get to that creamy texture.
I’m pretty sure we all have some sort of purpose for loose glitter though 😉 Just look at these colours!

Home sweet home

Hi everyone!

Earlier this week I returned from my travels. I know I said I’d return in August, but we aborted the trip due to circumstances I do not wish to discuss here.

So, this morning I checked my blog and discovered I have a new follower, welcome Liz! When we all look to the right side of this blog page, there’s a little side box somewhere that says I now have 100 followers!!! Oh happy day!

100 followers!!!!!!!!!!!

BalloonBorder

Thankyou, all of you, for following my blog! And for people who read, this means there’s a give-away coming up! 😀

Other news:
I started reading ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’. I love it.

Then there’s another new thingie, I started learning some guitar stuff. Don’t expect me to be good or anything, I really mean I just started this week, looking up videos on youtube and stealing my brothers guitar, messing around. Maybe, somewhere in the future, you’ll get a glimpse 😛

Oh, and I don’t know if this is happening anywhere else on the planet, not in Italy, but in the Netherlands is really popular for children: Loom bands? The bright coloured elastic bands to create bracelets? I tried this stuff as well, there are photos that I will show you in a new post.

After this weekend I expect myself to get to painting, either my face, my wall, anything! I saw some really cool videos of my favorite youtubers, so I definitely want to recreate some looks. Also there’s other cool original stuff coming up! Plus I promised a costume pattern that has to be uploaded soon, since the movie comes out in like, 2 months?

Lots to do, luckily I still have a few weeks off before I start the internship!

Love,

-M.

Something different…

Here’s something that is very unlike my normal posts, yet it’s very personal and you’ll get to know me (:
Watch as my inner artist, foodie, crafter but also obviously engineer come together!

This is a school project that we made last week. I just started my specialisation on the 10th, after I got back from London, and we got this assignment. The whole thing was filmed, built and tested last monday, the 17th. I produced the video this week.

So, my specialisation is Constructive Design, which is a cooperation between Building engineering and Civil engineering. This was an introduction to revise our knowledge of Mechanics, in a fun and practical way. We have quite a few international students in this course, that’s why half of the talking is English. Some is Dutch, though you might pick up some German, Spanish or Portuguese as well.
I found this to be a lot of fun, really. You all know how over the moon I am when it comes to crafting 🙂 We were supposed to make an impression by making a video or something else, so I immediately volunteered.
As you can see in the video, the bridge lasted a loooong time. We are very proud of this, because the student competitions at Technical University Delft reach about the same amount of weight with their winning designs, while they have about 2 months to prepare and we got 1 week.

So, yeah, this is what I do when I’m not doing things related to the activities described on this blog (:
I totally recommend trying this at home 😛
It’s not just crafting, I think you could create wonderful art with spaghetti too..

Love,

-M.
