Bodypainting jam session

After exam stressed from two weeks ago, I was able to paint again last weekend. I loved it. I missed it. And the weird thing is, I always think about what I am going to do, I always plan my character, I always recreated something that I like from YouTube, but not this time. I just picked a palette and painted whatever came up. It felt really really good 😊

The Mehron Paradise paints Pastels palette was one I hadn’t used very often yet. I bought it in Klagenfurt in the summer and since then, I didn’t really do much that I love.. So I opened it, looked at the colours and picked 5 I wanted to use.

I also did some details with a silver paint from DiamondFX.

I did look for some inspiration and found it with Lana Chromium. I love her style and have been following her artwork online for a long time. Two weeks ago she posted about a silver armour bodypaint on Instagram and if you look closely, you can see that that’s what I started with. But after the first lines, I just continued on my own and it was so much fun ❀

Enjoy the photos and check out the video I made here!

Avatar makeup

It’s a while ago now! But before Christmas, I had a request of a friend, asking me to help him with his costume. It was for a party, and he was willing to go all out. I suppose he came to the right person! 😊

He wanted to be like a character from James Cameron’s Avatar. We discussed the details and decided to try and make the nose shape and do full upper body makeup.

I started with the nose, because I had to make it in advance. The technique I chose was latex, mixed with flour, applied on my foam head, Charlie.

We had a fitting session, because Charlie didn’t have the same nose as my friend. After some adjustments we had our nose!

I finished the edges with some nose putty where needed, the rest is latex. The edges are something I really want to learn more about!

Then I added pointed ears, painted him blue, added contouring, stripes, eyemakeup, and he had gotten a wig, contacts and accessories.

We had a lot of fun and his party was a success!

For those of you that don’t know my blog yet: This is my very first photoshoot. The first one that is actually something.Β I did makeup on one shoot before (see portfolio) but this is my first time modelling. It was so cool!

So how did this happen?
I met Wouter a couple of weeks ago through other friends, and well, I talked about this blog and my passion for makeup, he looked at the blog and agreed on collaborating soon πŸ™‚

Around New Years he sent me a link to a photography competition and asked if I had any awesome ideas.
I did this makeup a yearΒ ago for the first time, it was very rough and it desperately needed a redo+normal photos instead of webcam photos, but I hadn’t really gotten to that point yet. Which is why I hadn’t even posted this on here.
This was the perfect oppertunity! I sent Wouter the webcam picture and he was happy, so, I sketched and changed a lot of things, actually, but, yes, the end result is very satisfying πŸ˜€

Wouter built up his gear in my living room and we were having a lot of fun shooting this. It’s very interesting to see all the different ways you can change a photo. Lights are so important. I also understand that with just my DSLR, I will not be able to create masterpieces like these photos on my own.
The good news is, next time I want to go paint myself on a weekend, I’ll call Wouter to see if he has time!

This is what my living room looked like

In short, I’m superhappy and this definitely calls for another shoot sometime soon. I would appreciate it if you could check out Wouter’s website and support him. Checking out the contest would also be pretty cool.
The most important part was having fun with it though. That is the purpose of the competition, to go Get your Gear out, go shoot, go have fun! And for that, I’m really grateful.

Thankyou for all your positive reactions πŸ™‚

Halloween 2015: the party guests makeup

Today I’d like to show you some of the photos that were taken during the party last weekend! These are photos of most of the people I painted, either in progress or as a result. Some people also added more paint, more blood, more whatever, because everyone was supercreative and enthousiastic! I really enjoyed myself here and I am looking forward to doing more makeup now, as I am finding a balance between working life and freetime πŸ™‚

For today, this is it. The footage of Nebula and my own makeup in progress has yet to be edited. My computer here is not very good at that, because it’s very old, and as you know, my laptop which I used to edit with, has gone to computerheaven hell. I’m working on things though!

Practising the makeup for a Team Evil member. This needs contouring, more blood and a better job on the black on the eyelids.

Making prosthetic ‘sticker’ wounds for the party attendees that don’t zombiefy themselves. I plan to paint them and add blood when placing them onto someone, not in advance.
