Two nights until Halloween!!!!

These are some decorations… The final few are in the making as I am writing this.

Made these last night and the day before. I found out a few days ago that I will be attending another Halloween celebration this friday (That’s TOMORROW!) and I needed another costume, because I won’t go as the same thing as saturday…
So, for all the readers that have known my blog for a long time, you know what these are! 🙂 I’m doing a bit of fancy but simple makeup, it will be Halloween related, and you’ll just have to wait and see the pictures I’ll take tomorrow!

Last weekend I discovered that coloured contacts are now much cheaper than they were when I started out with makeup! So, obviously, I bought 3 new pairs. These are a natural purple colour, I really love how this turns out on my eyes! Will wear these tomorrow. There’s another pair that I have no non-ridiculous photo of, but they are super awesome and I will wear those on Saturday! 😀

Remember that yarn I showed you in one of these updates? Well, I made a beanie for my friend, Tereza 🙂

Now I’m off to the final preperations for the BEST. WEEKEND. OF. THE. YEAR!

13 nights until Halloween

Practising the makeup for a Team Evil member. This needs contouring, more blood and a better job on the black on the eyelids.

Making prosthetic ‘sticker’ wounds for the party attendees that don’t zombiefy themselves. I plan to paint them and add blood when placing them onto someone, not in advance.

Painting progress April

Hi there! Remember this blog?
Yeah, I’ve been off the radar for a while.. Long time readers will know, it just happens and I’m not even apologizing anymore, there’s no point 😛
So what’s happened? Well, let’s look at the list:

– I’m graduating and writing a thesis. Not alone, but it’s a lot of work and it takes all my dedication and concentration, 40 hours a week. I’m exhausted at the end of the day, and some weekends, I’ve been too tired to even watch Outlander. I have made a change though, I started taking better care of myself:
– I started with Pilates, which takes some time at the end of my day, but it’s awesome. I’m getting stronger! 🙂 I have been practising yoga for a little longer and I have to say, once you get over the whole.. what should I call it.. vague stuff, you know, it’s really relaxing and my mind is at peace after an evening session. So, I realized that taking serious care of my body, with more exersize and allowing myself to relax, is really important and I feel better. This has one downside: it takes time, meaning less time for other projects.
– I have been ill for two weeks. I was really ‘out’ for one week, but I had this infection called Sinusitis, really annoying..
– My best friend and I went to the first edition of Dutch Comic Con! It was so cool! That took a lot of time to prepare, we were cosplayers and I did our makeup. There is a video on its way! It has to wait though because…
– Last week my laptop died. I am now working on a computer that does not have the ability of performing properly with CS6. My thesis is not in danger because we save everything on Dropbox (THANK HEAVEN) and there’s a backup of my harddrive, but right now I can’t reach anything that used to be on that laptop and the whole situation sucks.
– Other than that, I have found a job while I’m not even finished with my thesis, so that’s fantastic!!! Right now, I’m searching for a house in Groningen, so I can live closer to the job. This whole travelling student has also taken it’s toll on me and I am done with all that. Plus, Groningen is simply awesome and it’s about time I start living my own life there 😀

Aaaaaand the sun has been shining a lot over the past 3 weeks! 😀 I can now paint my wall until about 20.00 p.m. which is great, because, I get home around 18.00, dinner, clean up, and then I can either feel like painting or feel like working out, or both, or whatever, I actually have the choice to go ahead and paint! After 18.00!

The changes are the rocks and flower things.
I painted the waterfall rocks and shadows, so the waterfall is now finished. I decided that the flowers need to be a whole lot brighter and happier so I used white over them, and that will make the colours pop out more. I roughly sketched out all the bushes with the white.
From now on, it’s all about the green zone. Which is a lot. But I’m getting there!

I am not sure when the Comic Con post will be ready, not very soon I’m afraid. I do hope you enjoy the update on my artwork 🙂

Painting progress : Januari / Februari

Over the past few weeks I’ve had some opportunities to paint, since there has been some sunshine again! 🙂

IMG_3287

So, what has changed?
The waterfall, I went right over everything that was there with blue and grey, to create shadows and background colours, and went over it with a big fat layer of white. The stones in the waterfall itself were also defined.
Then today and yesterday, the stones in the river on the right were up! These are finished.

I might paint more tomorrow, but the weather forecast is not looking good, so, I don’t know yet. All I know is that next up are the stones around the waterfall. And then… we’ll see!

I hope you will all have a wonderful weekend, I’m going to go to the city and celebrate Burns Night. I have never heard of it before and I have no idea what to expect, but there was a Highlander dresscode, so that will be fun 🙂

M.

This week!

So, it’s been a busy week, and I could make seperate posts of everything, but I prefer doing this all at once, so here we go!

Last sunday was my Carnival makeup job number 1, for Roseline.  I met her for the Halloween makeup job I did last year and she called saturday afternoon. We settled with a neutral version of the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, the version done by Alexys from MadeUlook, because she wasn’t really in for crazy facepaint. It was a big challenge for me, to not go all the way with the crazy, but we made it and Roseline was satisfied 🙂

Monday and Tuesday were the other makeup jobs for Carnival, the girls wanted a Sugarskull, this particular one by Lindsay. I practised on myself first, so they were able to give feedback.

IMG_3198 IMG_3206

The girls wanted to go all the way with pink, glitter and everything couldn’t be crazy enough, so that was good. I really liked doing dramatic, theatrical, extravagant makeup that says BOOM in your face, I was trying to find ways to make the colours pop more and more, something I never really do at home. I completely changed the products that I used, but I think it turned out pretty good 🙂
The girls actually won the Best Dressed contest of Melody, so YAY 😀

The last few days of the week I finished a piece of furniture, it’s a gift for one of my best friends, she and her boyfriend are now living together. It’s supposed to be something to put plants on, like herbs. They really liked it 🙂
This is the crafting project I have been working on for a few weeks, and because of this guy here, I wasn’t painting when the sun was shining. But it was fun! A challenge, but it was great!

Other news:
The video thing with the spaghetti bridge is over, not going to happen anymore. I’m sad, but it’s ok, it was kind of something I expected, I had to contact all these people I didn’t really know and make sure they replied to a producer, but not everyone did, so, due to the law system in the US with rights and whatever, they can’t use the clip.

The Elven Costume continues to be fantastic, a collegue is borrowing it now for her daughter, which is lovely, I’m not really using it anymore. I should try to keep Ireth alive though! Let me know if you have suggestions?

I also have a new video coming up, though it’s not finished, ofcourse… I have the rough video editing done, now it needs a voiceover and music, so the whole sound editing is yet to be done, sometime soon. I saw the weather for tomorrow is fantastic, so tomorrow I should paint my wall!

Conclusion: lots of things that I knew were coming, are now finished. This was the best Carnival I ever had, due to all the makeup! Still, there are a lot of projects that have yet to be finished 🙂

Painting progress April

Hello again and welcome to all new followers!

I’m sorry for not being present for two weeks or something, but obviously I have definitely been working on something!!

Today I want to show you the wall, it’s a bit more coloured now 🙂

IMG_1911

This is just a main background colour which will be covered by 2345686486416464 layers, but, yes, it’s a bit more full now.
Also, the castle in the clearing has been drawn! Who can recognise it?

IMG_1922

I actually made a model for the castle, because usually it’s shown from the other side. However, the forest is magically not the same as the one originally placed forest next to said castle. This is kind of something in my head..

If this were all I did over the past few weeks, you are allowed to get mad. I didn’t really have anything going on for school, so, I am working on something big!
I’m telling you, it’s huge. Or, well, it’s very time consuming 🙂
I think I’ve said it several times, but my elven cloak post is still my ‘most viewed’ post, and I’m extending it!

Can’t really say much more than that, but it’s going to be a long and detailed post.
I hope I’ll finish this week, because after this week it’s back to school, fulltime. I also wanted to do some more paintwork, including some on my face, and I started a new crochet thingie as well..

Love,

-M.

Wall painting progress

Welcome to my new followers!!

IMG_1688

The sun was shining the past two days, so that meant painting time! I have a week off now, which means I actually have some catching up to do and ofcourse, there’s an assignment (or three) waiting for me when the sun is gone..

Anyways, I did some more base colours, this time it’s the water, some rocks and the light that reflects from the house in the water.
Obviously this isn’t finished or near perfect yet, but this is only the base. I’ll go over it with tons of layers, just like I did with the roof of the house.

IMG_1690

I think the water looks great, but the lights are terrible. Too dark, plus it kind of mixed with blue, making it slightly green… Not good. But as I said, we’ll go over it.

The wall is starting to come alive now, it’s not as white anymore, though I still have a lot of work to do!

Love,

-M.
