Photoshoot ‘Red’

After your tremendous feedback on the preview, I could hardly wait to get the rest of the photos! I got all of them today and I am so, SO happy πŸ˜€

Click for fullsize images! *I just discovered that this is no longer an option on WordPress? They keep changing things! Let me know if you’re able to enlarge photos by clicking on them*

For those of you that don’t know my blog yet: This is my very first photoshoot. The first one that is actually something.Β I did makeup on one shoot before (see portfolio) but this is my first time modelling. It was so cool!

So how did this happen?
I met Wouter a couple of weeks ago through other friends, and well, I talked about this blog and my passion for makeup, he looked at the blog and agreed on collaborating soon πŸ™‚

Around New Years he sent me a link to a photography competition and asked if I had any awesome ideas.
I did this makeup a yearΒ ago for the first time, it was very rough and it desperately needed a redo+normal photos instead of webcam photos, but I hadn’t really gotten to that point yet. Which is why I hadn’t even posted this on here.
This was the perfect oppertunity! I sent Wouter the webcam picture and he was happy, so, I sketched and changed a lot of things, actually, but, yes, the end result is very satisfying πŸ˜€

Wouter built up his gear in my living room and we were having a lot of fun shooting this. It’s very interesting to see all the different ways you can change a photo. Lights are so important. I also understand that with just my DSLR, I will not be able to create masterpieces like these photos on my own.
The good news is, next time I want to go paint myself on a weekend, I’ll call Wouter to see if he has time!

This is what my living room looked like

In short, I’m superhappy and this definitely calls for another shoot sometime soon. I would appreciate it if you could check out Wouter’s website and support him. Checking out the contest would also be pretty cool.
The most important part was having fun with it though. That is the purpose of the competition, to go Get your Gear out, go shoot, go have fun! And for that, I’m really grateful.

Thankyou for all your positive reactions πŸ™‚

Photoshoot preview!!!!

Driving home for Christmas

It was a bright and early morning when I left the city. This picture is taken on the road from the station to the highway and I loved it.

I go back to my parents’ pretty often, though for the holidays I brought my camera. That way I’m now able to present the latest version of my wall painting πŸ™‚
To be honest I don’t even recall what I did most recently, I suppose it’s the darker green colours in the front.

Most importantly, what I want to show you today is this:

Remember when my laptop died? Did you read my complaints about my computer not being able to handle photoshop and other programs that require a beast type system because it’s too old?

Well, I saved for a new system and decided to assemble it myself, since it’s cheaper and a lot of fun! I built my own computer!
The picture shows my happiness after the first round of testing if I installed things correctly. I did, since the message on the screen was exactly what I wanted to see. That was earlier today πŸ™‚
Tomorrow I’m expecting the last part to arrive, which is my optical drive, that wasn’t neccesary for the first part of assembling, I can just pop that in tomorrow and it’ll be fine. Unfortunately, tomorrow I’ll be gone for a shopping trip (that’s just too bad πŸ˜‰ ) so I’m going to install my Windows on Tuesday, along with all the other basic things.
For those of you that are interested, I can make a seperate post dedicated to the new computer system. If you’d like to see that, let me know in the comments.

All of this is very good news, because with this new baby, I will be back to video editing within a few days! Hooray!

Oh, and ofcourse, we celebrated Christmas for three days with the family here.
I hope you all had a great time, even though it’s such a forced social event.

OH!! Did you all see the new Star Wars movie yet? GO SEE IT!
I went as Leia! πŸ™‚

I can totally film and produce a hair tutorial for this thing in a week or so! πŸ˜€

Sleek review: iDivine Vintage Romance palette

Here’s the other palette I bought at Beau makeup stores in Groningen!
The weather today is… grey, unfortunately not the sunshine we had during my other review, though I think these photos give a good impression on what the Vintage Romance palette is about.

It’s a lovely palette with purple and golden shades. Almost all of them are shimmers, except for the one brown colour on the top right. The iDivine palettes seem to always include light and dark colours in the same palette, so you will always be able to mix and match with whatever you want to accomplish, whether it’s a neutral look or smokey eyes, this palette definitely has everything you need, no matter what your eye, hair or skin colour is.

The colours that really caught my attention were the lightest gold (top row, second on the left) and the brightest purple (lower row, third on the left), so that’s why I bought it. The bronze colours on the top row remind me of the bronze and gold colours I have in the Storm palette. I think this whole palette would really match with Storm.

Pigmentation is exactly what we expect from Sleek. It’s good, it’s pretty, it does what we want it to do, which is shine. Some colours are more shimmery than others, but you’ll be able to tell that from seeing the pans. It’s kind of obvious that there’s one matte, some soft shimmers and then some real shimmers. They do need a primer though, especially with hooded and folded eyelids, I discovered that this palette needs it more than the Sunset palette. I guess that’s what you get with shimmers.

What I love about this palette is that the ones that looked really dark are actually OK when I see them on my skin, but that didn’t mean they were not pigmented enough, which is surprising. Normally, I don’t go there, I don’t do dark smokey eyes and I avoid using black eyeshadows for daily, neutral looks. This black, as you can see, is not black black, but it has a grey-ish tint to it. That’s not very positive, I know, but hey, I’ve got Bulletproof for real harsh black, so I’m actually happy to have some softer darks. It’s good that that specific collection is expanding πŸ™‚

Would I recommend this palette? Most definitely, yes. Enjoy!

Baking :D

For the final days of my internship, its pretty normal here that you bake something. I couldn’t really choose, so I made this tasing experience of three pies! It was brilliant, they were good and my testing subjects really seemed to like them, some even took pieces home for their families…
My apology for the terrible photo’s, I know.. These were taken with my parents’ tablet, it was dark out, and, well, there is no excuse.

Pie number one is a crumble with forest fruits. It was based on yoghurt.

Pie number two is a chocolat cake.

The last one is a carrot cake with pecan nuts, never had it before and I loved it!Β image

The recepes are dutch, I could translate them for all the international readers if needed, just let me know πŸ˜‰

Other news: Winter hit us in the face this morning. My cat wasn’t too happy with that, but I took one picture that is worth sharing, I think the contrast of Louie and snow is beautiful πŸ™‚ Also, the motion looks actually looks good here!

Yesterday the girlfriend of my cousin asked me as her and her friend’s makeup artist for Carnaval. Which is brilliant! So much fun, looking forward to it.

This morning I got an interesting message from this filmmaker guy, who wants to use my material from the Spaghetti bridge film for something I consider BIG. That is, like, still flabbergasting my mind and I can’t believe it’s real. Maybe it’s not, maybe Google lied to me when I did a background check.. But, yes, that is happening.

And there’s the fact that I’m almost done with my internship! Monday is my final day, after that I will take a few days off before taking up the last challenge of my bachelor: the thesis!

Stay tuned and I will update on the wall painting and other crafts, soon! *spoiler: the waterfall*

And Louie!

New year, new look!

This blog has had a makeover!! Whoohoo! πŸ™‚

I created a portfolio page last week, something some of you have seen already. Go check it out!
This week I shot my new background! It’s something that has been in my head for a while, I’ve been wanting to change this website for some time. I think it looks a whole lot better this way, more professional, and it really shows what I’m about: colours.

If you want to know how I did it: I shot my brushes with paint and makeup on them against a white background. I tried shooting with a lot of light coming in. I still don’t really know what I’m doing, though it looks like what I had in mind. Then I went over it with photoshop and the option that I used a lot, is exposure.

As for the content of my portfolio, you can see there that I’ve been asked for a photoshoot! It’s so wonderful, I feel like I’m in a rollercoaster now. After the photoshoot, I had the chance to grime for a theater production this weekend. It’s so brilliant.
I’m going to see and find photos of the show to put in my portfolio. The show is called “Witches”, based on the book by Roald Dahl. It was really great, I hope I will get more opportunities like this.

I hope all of you had happy holidays, I’m going to spend this week finishing my internship report, after that there’s a fantastic New Year’s party coming up. Next year is going to rock!

Painting progress September

It’s still september! So I can still post this today πŸ™‚ Unless your location is east of Abu Dhabi..

So, this tree is finished! Or, well, I think I will add a little more light on the sides, because it’s really dark now and I had to get used to that for like, three days. By now I’m ok with it, but really, sunday I thought I’d f*ed up with the dark colours. I even used black to create those little cracks that tree trunks tend to have, whereas previously I have tried to avoid using black black.

So, that’s one tree. And the little stumps in front of it, though I think they need some fine editing.

Getting there!

Also, I was messing around with my camara this weekend, because I still have no idea what I’m actually doing and I just take shots and post the pretty ones. One of my co-workers at my internship company explained some camara wisdom and I took this shot of the clouds during sunsetΒ friday night:

I think it’s brilliant, this is what the sky actually looked like, no photoshop, this is me and my camera skills. You might think: “come on Lizzy, it’s no rocket science”. I know, it’s just messing around with settings. Still, I’m proud, because a standard mode will not get you this result πŸ™‚
